Journeys of Resilience, Hope, and Healing

Marilla's Story
Marilla's Story

Marilla* came into care as a baby. She was doted on by her foster family, and had a loving place to stay while her birth family re-grouped and created a safe place for her. Marilla blossomed as her foster family developed a caring relationship with her biological family. She was reunited with her biological family, who continue to have a caring friendship with her foster family to this day.

Amara's Story
Amara's Story

Amara* was a tween when she came into foster care. She was relocated several hours away because there were no available foster homes in her  community. A couple of years later, Foster Love Ministries was able to provide temporary respite care for Amara in her home community. Just the simple act of being in a local respite home provided Amara with the ability to reconnect with family members, teachers, and others who knew her. After the shock of leaving her home, and having another opportunity to re-engage with her community, Amara was able to form strong bonds with those who knew her before she was taken out of her local area. Amara’s “second chance” resulted in her being placed in a kinship adoption with a family that she knew before coming into foster care.

Sara's Story
Sara's Story

Sara* is a beautiful little girl that grabbed ahold of our hearts this year.  She came to Foster Love from an abused home, fragile, broken and afraid. Placed in a Foster Love home, Sara was desperate for love, and the need to feel safe and secure.  Our foster parents tried to reach Sara, but struggled for weeks to even get Sara to respond.  Our foster parents, staff, and anyone who knew Sara prayed, and cried out for a breakthrough, a miracle, and then it happened.  The miracle we had been praying for, in the most beautiful way.  Sara was having a hard day, our Foster Mom just didn’t know what to do, and she finally took Sara in her arms, and wouldn’t let go, holding Sara, rocking her back and forth telling her over and over again that she was safe and was going to be okay.  Something happened, changed, and God moved in that moment, because Sara melted into her Foster Mother’s arms, feeling safety, security, and the love that she needed. She began to repeat, “I’m safe, I’m safe, I’m safe.” Sara is now thriving, laughing, and healing.  This is what being a foster parent is all about, loving and nurturing children that come from such hard places. We get to be a part of Sara’s story, and others, whose lives are forever changed.
